Brooke Welsh

UX UI Designer

Why am I a designer...

My name is Brooke Welsh. I am Bachelor of Design Computing graduate from the University of Sydney. I have always been creative. This interest and flair for design started in art and design technology lessons during high school. It was within the walls of St Mary's Star of the Sea College, that I developed my first two design projects. These built the foundations for the designer I am today. The 'Power Guard' started and encouraged me to develop products based on in-depth research, and experiment with a variety of mediums to build the most effective solution. 'Race Against Time' was designed with the sole purpose to help my neighbours raise money and awareness for their daughter, Chloe Saxby, who lived with an extremely rare and life threatening disease Vanishing White Matter. Since producing this short animated film I have wanted to continue my passion and use my skills to improve the lives of those around me. Both of these projects were not perfect, but are the main reason I decided to pursue design computing studies.

My spare time...

When I'm not designing I am playing sport, going to cross-fit or spending time in the great outdoors. I have always enjoyed being part of a team and playing with different people. I started playing hockey at a young age and have since represented NSW at national championships in both indoor and outdoor forms of the game. I believe that being a part of these teams developed leadership qualities, patience and my competitive mindset. I have captained many hockey teams, gaining numerous state and national titles. However, playing sport means so much more to me than a medal! I have developed life long friends and mentors from all over the country. It formed my teamwork and communication skills.
